We’ve all had those days… A friend’s birthday, a special occasion, a party, work, an important meeting. Sometimes these are things that you simply cannot afford to miss, despite the fact you’ve just come done with a tummy ache, a cold or a headache or simply aren’t in the mood to go out but the world still moves around and sometimes you just have to pull yourself together, get dressed, put on some makeup and conquer the day. Whilst the last thing you probably feel like doing when your sick is putting on makeup, it can make a lot of difference to how your feeling and your state of mind.  First and foremost your number one concern should be your skin. When you’re sick it’s easy to forgo your skincare routine and either just wash it or do nothing at all. Instead, try and stick to your regular routine and consider adding an oil or hydrating serum under your moisturiser. When your immune system is down it can take a nasty toll on your skin - and don’t you dare even think about forg...

If you find yourself at the salon every six weeks paying north of $300 to get your hair color   just right , you’ve likely wondered at one point or another how to dye your hair at home. Is Baking Soda The Cure For Your Undereye Circles?

Image
We've been fed a lot of tips and tricks when it comes to remedying our  undereye circles . There's the classic fix (cucumber slices), the impractical one (cold spoons), and the good-in-theory hack (covering them up with red lipstick). We've jumped through many-a-hoops to appear wide-awake. Well, YouTube vlogger  Darshika Patel  is adding yet another DIY treatment to our list: baking soda. In the above video, Patel proceeds to mix one to two teaspoons of "everyday" baking soda with a few drops of water to make a "sugar syrup"-like paste. Using the back of a spoon, she applies the concoction to her undereye area. One point of warning, she notes, is to smear — not rub — the mixture onto the skin. "Your dark circles will get worse if you irritate the delicate skin under your eyes," she says. Wait five to 10 minutes for the mix to dry. Wipe it off with a wet wipe of some kind, again, making sure not to upset that fragile undereye zone. Thoug...

Best Product Discoveries of 2015:

Image
Each year I share with you my favourite products that I’ve continuously used throughout the year, but in all honesty not much has changed in the way of my go-to products since 2014. Rather than writing a long, repetitive list I’ve instead decided to share a combination of different products I’ve tried this year that I feel are incredible and worthy of being classed as some of the best products I’ve tried. Trilogy Make-up Be Gone Cleansing Balm Although I only started using this towards the end of 2015 it deserves a special place on this list. Easily one of the best skincare products/cleansers I’ve ever tried this natural  cleansing balm removes every trace of waterproof makeup, dirt and oil without stinging, irritation or excessive greasiness. Go-To Face Hero Although a relativity new skincare line, Go-To has been a staple in my beauty routine since it launched last year and I can’t see that changing any time soon. “Face Hero” is one of the best skincare serums/oils/super pro...

The Best Cream Blushes for Livening Up Sad Winter Skin:

Image
Photo: Tom Medvedich The winter blues aren’t limited to emotional doldrums from a lack of vitamin D: They’re more than happy to make their presence known on your face, too, by zapping your skin of that healthy, golden-goddess glow you spent all summer soaking up. The clear solution? Blush. While we may think of bright, pop-of-color blushes as being a distinctly springtime beauty must-have, there’s no time of year where we’re more desperate to look alive than during the winter. Cream blushes are especially critical: Not only do they make that hit of color possible, but the formulas give skin a dewy finish that powder blushes just don’t. In short, we can’t live without them, and these 7 excellent choices are primed and ready to help you look at least a little bit less like you’ve never seen the sun. Tarte Cheek Stain in Tipsy  ($30) Don’t be turned off by the touch of orange in this coral-y shade: Once blended, it translates to a pretty hint of warmth that infuses chee...
